Did you see the news yesterday about Stewart Woodman? After a decade of cooking in the Twin Cities, the chef is moving on, which leaves a hole in the Kaskaid Hospitality world. We now know that the next phase for the first floor of Workshop at UNION restaurant will be a sports bar concept. (Under Woodman the restaurant had been a playground for the Kaskaid chef menu planning). After churning through concepts since the massive restaurant opened in downtown Minneapolis with Jim Christiansen (Heyday) opened the place, a gathering spot before events, might make the most sense. It will re-open in late September or early October.

Foreign Legion is expanding both the room and the menu in the first floor of the Soo Line building. Russell and Desta Klein's swank and cozy wine bar will now take over the room that includes a bank of windows overlooking the street outside. With the extra space comes more menu items. Expect to find pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and more. They're calling it a Europub.
