Rosa Mexicano in City Center has permanently closed, according to the The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal. The chain opened in New York its first location in 1984 and now has restaurants across the country and abroad, including two locations in Dubai.
The downtown restaurant, the chain’s only Minnesota location, opened in 2011 in the former TGI Friday’s space on the corner of Hennepin Avenue and Sixth Street South. The restaurant served higher-end, traditional Mexican fare and was a particularly popular Hora Feliz spot for the downtown after-work crowd. There was no mention of the closing on the chain’s social media feeds or web site as of Tuesday evening.
City Center has been losing tenants lately, with Il Foro, the highly anticipated Italian restaurant in the former Forum Cafeteria space closing in May after less than a year.
