Prairie Dogs, which opened on Lake Street in 2014, will close its doors after a last hoorah on New Year’s Eve. The restaurant, which specialized in fab hot dog combinations unseen anywhere else, just could not make it work in the location, according to a statement released today.
Prairie Dogs served house-made sausages crafted from locally raised meats. The unique menu utilized artisan cheeses and farmer's market toppings, receiving loads of press and accolades. The Mayor Of Flavortown himself, Guy Fieri, even filmed a segment there earlier this year. Despite all the attention, it is the apparent curse of location that did the eatery in. “There was something keeping people away from our door and we were never able to figure out why,” the statement said. “As customer counts dropped our bills piled up.”
But hope is not lost. The team is looking for a new spot to call home, while Prairie Dogs products will still be available at U.S. Bank Stadium.
