The former Verdant Tea (and before that Seward Co-op) on Franklin Avenue has undergone a dramatic renovation and is ready to take center stage with karaoke and sushi fans. Encore Karaoke and Sushi Lounge celebrates its grand opening tomorrow beginning at noon with half off dining. The restaurant serves a wide variety of moderately priced sushi plus some udon noodles and stir frys plus more. There are also eleven rooms dedicated to karaoke singing - for just a couple of friends or up to thirty guests. It's the only private karaoke room/restaurant combo in the area.
Checking out the room, it's hard to believe this location was once home to Seward Co-op. (More recently, it was Verdant Tea.) Gone are the long wooden benches. Instead, the super sleek, cool room is super swank. Inside, there is a full bar, along with bottle service - that should help you loosen up those inhibitions to tackle singing outside of rush hour.
The restaurant will be open from noon to 2 p.m. for lunch and 4:30 to midnight for dinner (and singing) tomorrow. Otherwise, they open for regular business at 4:30 tonight. Reservations are recommended. For full hours, menu and rental rates, check them out here.
