Kata Organic is taking shape at 4279 Sheridan Avenue South in Minneapolis with a design meant to mirror one of the nearby houses that overlooks Lake Harriet. (It's right across the street from the former Famous Dave's.) There will be 30 seats inside and more outside as the weather allows.

Not only do co-owners Nick and John Leonard Mason plan to serve food inside their new space, but there will also be a downstairs fitness bar that will have a space for yoga and martial arts classes.

According to the Southwest Journal the owners are uniquely suited for this venture with both fitness and hospitality experience in their past. John has won world black belt championships  in martial arts and Nick, a lawyer, has owned sports bars in New York and Fort Lauderdale.

The menu will be built from local farm-sourced ingredients and serve smoothies, breakfast, lunch and dinner with wine and beer. Kata Organics should be open before Memorial Day.
