Q Fanatic Minneapolis, Wednesday at 11:15 A.M.

Welcome to a special Barbecue Week version of our photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographers visit some of the cities' great restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, Q Fanatic on Nicollet and 60th just before the Wednesday lunch rush.

When there was just one location of Q Fanatic in Champlain,Heavy Table's James Norton passionately lamented, "It is infuriating that Q Fanatic is one of Minnesota’s best-kept gastronomic secrets. his is a place that should be elbow-to-elbow crowded, seven nights a week, and resisting the temptation to expand." Lucky for the rest of us, the secret of chef and owner Charlie Johnson's mastery of the smoked meat arts and he did not resist that temptation. The second outpost of his restaurant retains all of the alluring perfumes and without any gussying up or frills. The counter service still puts up some incredible ribs and a side of beans that cannot be missed.

We captured the goodness going down at 11:15 A.M. on Wednesday and this is what we found.
