The tables are being set, the bar stocked and the yard stick wall has been installed. These are the final few days of preparations before the North Loop’s newest neighborhood restaurant, NOLO’s Kitchen opens for business. What was once Gardner’s Hardware (and before that, the Maytag building) has been transformed. The ground level is wide open with huge windows that face Washington Avenue and plenty of natural light.
The restaurant is the work of chef Peter Hoff; Marty Collins who owns McCoy’s Public House along with several Kansas City restaurants, and Brett Johnson, whose family has run The Hilltop Restaurant in Edina for the past 40 years.
The restaurant is in the final stages of being put together in anticipation of a Monday opening. NOLO’s will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
The menu is straightforward American with everything scratch made, down to fresh pastas that will be made in an open kitchen.
