Michelle Gayer’s craving-inducing pastry beauties are scheduled to begin the city-wide assault on the saintly city’s waistlines starting December 1. Gayer is the award-winning pastry chef who operates a beloved stand serving all the baked pretty things inside Midtown Global Market. The Salty Tart already expanded once this year, adding a huge, new kitchen space to amp up production. The next stop in total Twin Cities domination with her laminated pastry dough is the bakery portion of Market House Collaborative.
The project is helmed by chef Tim McKee, for whom Gayer worked with for briefly at his now-shuttered La Belle Vie. The Market House Collaborative includes the new casual sit-down seafood-centric restaurant from McKee Octo Fishbar, Almanac Fish Market and a butcher shop from Peterson’s meats.

The Salty Tart Saint Paul will include 60 seats for dining in for breakfast and lunch with a menu including sandwiches, crepes, soups and more. The shop will be located inside what was the market space adjacent to Heartland Restaurant.
In addition to the new, there will still be the classic Salty Tart goodies like decadant cupcakes, tarts, chocolate croissants and more, served in its signature white bags encouraging guests to “Treat Yo Self.”
