It must have been a shot to the head. Donny Dirk’s Zombie Den, the creepy-themed dive bar in North Minneapolis, announced it’s own demise with a Facebook post last night declaring the murder of Donny. Don’t worry, it’s not quite as dramatic as all that sounds.
Donny Dirk was murdered today. RIP Donny.

Donny Dirk’s Zombie Den was the brother concept to Psycho Suzi’s Motor Lounge, Betty Danger’s Country Club, and Saint Sabrina’s Parlor in Purgatory. All of these restaurants (and store/tattoo parlor in Sabrina’s case) are the work of Leslie Bock. Her unique style of retro swirling punk rock will bring us another new concept and the idea is decidedly “R” rated.
According to GoMn.com Bock’s new concept for the location that was once home to the iconic dive Stand Up Franks, is Mr. Steven’s Snuggery. Snuggery in the traditional sense is a place for snuggling. Snuggery according to Urban Dictionary is the act of getting freaky inside a Snuggie while speaking dirty entirely in a British accent.
The new bar is probably somewhere in between. It’s been coined an “adult drinktainery” with implied R-rated decor. Steven’s is described as “a cross between low tech Godzilla and high brow hookers (without the hookers) who are in love with outer space,” according to Bock. Sounds like a drive-in mash up of Barberella meets Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.
Expect an opening soonish.
