One of our most anticipated spring openings has actually already happened. The collaboration of chef JD Fratzke and restaurant owner Matty O’Reilly began serving guests over the weekend. The small restaurant, just 40 seats, was recently Ristorante Luci has been remade as Bar Brigade.
The wall between the bar entryway has been opened, revealing a beautiful arch. Speaking of the bar, the city of St. Paul granted Bar Brigade a full liquor license, so there are cocktails being served inside here along with a divine little wine, beer and cider list.
The menu is also brief, but filled with comfort foods like a wild boar bourguignon; fresh-shucked, east coast oysters; tender artichokes served over romesco sauce and more.
The French-influenced bistro is the work of restaurateurs chef JD Fratzke and Matty O’Reilly. Fratzke is also co-owner of the Strip Club Meat and Fish and Saint Dinette. O’Reilly is the owner of Republic and the Red River Kitchen food trucks. The duo first worked together on the riverside, seasonal eatery City House by Red River Kitchen in St. Paul last year.
Bar Brigade opens again for service tomorrow for dinner. Normal business hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 4:00 to 11:00 p.m.
