Milkjam Honors Women’s History Month

The creamery salutes powerful women in the best way possible.

The ice cream kicks ass, just like the ladies it honors.

Every Sunday during the month of March, Milkjam creamery will run a special honoring the staff’s hard working mommies to celebrate the 1987 Congressional resolution designating March as National Women’s History Month.

For the next four weeks only, Milkjam has renamed its ice cream flavors after just a few of the kickass women we all know and love. While Uma Thurman has always had a place of honor in the creamery case with her namesake Greek yogurt concoction with a passion fruit and lychee swirl, other options now include Notorious R.B.G after outspoken Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (the flavor formerly known as The Darkest Cocoa), a tropical sorbet with lime curd named after the tart and sassy Chrissy Teigen, a champagne sorbet honoring the always classy Meryl Streep, and the Amy Klobuchar- a wholesome and patriotic mix of malted vanilla with Caramel de Lite Girl Scout Cookies. The senator apparently chose the flavors herself.

The dedication to equality comes as no surprise to anyone who knows owners Sameh and Saed Wadi. The brothers, who also own World Street Kitchen restaurant next door and the food truck of the same name, are Palestinian immigrants who recently closed down their restaurants in support of Day Without Immigrants in protest of the White House’s anti-immigration policies. Social activism never tasted so good.
