When the doors closed and the light was extinguished inside South Minneapolis’ small restaurant with the little name, Piccolo’s torch was passed to the next era. That time is coming soon as co-owners Cameron Cecchini and Grisha Hammes have been hard at work restyling the small restaurant and developing what will be their first tasting menu inside Tenant, which is currently on track to open in early May.
If its possible to believe, the restaurant is just a bit smaller than before. Dinner will be focused, coursed dining experiences Tuesdays through Saturdays. There will be a kitchen bar and a few tables available for reservation. Each dinner will begin at the top of the hour and is expected to last around 90 minutes. Cecchini and Hammes will be cooking up a rotating set menu, but have noted that diners with allergies and food sensitivities are invited to call ahead and will be accommodated.

Each meal will cost $50 with an optional beverage pairing available for an additional $25.

Hammes and Cecchini first met when working on the opening kitchen team at Borough and were both in the kitchen at Piccolo when the opportunity arose to open their own eatery.

Reservations are available now and start on May 11, but there is a small chance that the restaurant might even open a day or two before that. Eagle-eyed neighbors should train their gaze on this space after the first week in May.
Once open, they expect most diners will need to make reservations, but there is a possibility for a few walk-in seats available.
Perhaps most exciting, is that in addition to the beautiful food planned, there is the openness and focused hospitality of this chef team. In an age of rants on Twitter and so much disdain for special requests, it’s nice to read on the website, “A splendid time is guaranteed.”
