Colossal Cafe’s New Minneapolis Location Is Open Right Now

The name is no longer ironic as cafe moves.

The Powderhorn Park breakfast and lunch restaurant that has been serving those mammoth, yeasted pancakes along with other comfort food favorites since 2005 has moved from its tiny original location to the former Pilgrimage Cafe at 2403 E 38th Street.

The tiny restaurant was taken over by father/daughter team John and Elizabeth Tinucci in 2010. Since then, they have opened two other locations, one on Como Avenue and one on Grand Avenue, both in St. Paul.

On March 31 the original address closed and the team began moving to the new, more reasonably sized digs. Starting today, the next chapter of the Minneapolis Colossal Cafe story began as they re-opened for breakfast. The new spot will be open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

As for what will become of the old location, there are rumors of a coffee shop and it will stay in control of the Tinucci family.
