Portillo’s

Proper Chicago-dog fans will be psyched to know that Woodbury’s new Portillo’s is slated to open July 11. The St. Paul suburb location will be the chain’s 50th store and located off Highway 94 at 8450 Hudson Road will have room for 200 people and a drive through. Portillo’s is the popular Chicago-based fast food chain with poppy 1920’s style decor and a menu with hot Italian beef sandwiches, burgers and of course, a hot dog with the neon-green chili relish, peppers and all the accouterments on a poppyseed bun. Portillo’s is so beloved that it’s an essential Chicago restaurant.

—In other chain news, Vegas-based Capriotti’s has announced it is coming to Edina later this year. The sandwich chain was founded in 1976 in Delaware and has built a reputation on their roast turkey sandwiches. The new location will open near Southdale at 7143 France Avenue with three more locations on the horizon for the Minneapolis area late this year/early next year.

—Staking the claim as the first Mexican sports bar in St. Paul, La Costa opens with its full menu tomorrow according the Pioneer Press. Located at 194 Cesar Chavez St, the menu is stacked with nachos, tacos, burritos, an impressive amount of seafood and beer options. There are also fresh made margaritas and wealth of TV’s. Plus, the website tracks the game numbers of the sports teams. Hours are 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
