Jen and Kate Lloyd have taken their bagels from farmers market to beloved pop up to real live shop as of this weekend. The sisters opened Rise Bagels this weekend at 530 North 3rd Street inside Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood. The storefront will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Before getting into business for themselves the duo studied at the alter of the chewy bread arts in Montreal and New York, devouring the best bagels and taking studious notes on what they loved most about them. The result is a New York City-style boiled bagel with the all over coatings found in Montreal.

The original has been a hit out in Excelsior. The new spot is located at 3808 West 50th Street near 50th and France. The restaurant is open all day with breakfast through dinner and a full bar.

—Pyres Brewing is ready to open its brewery and taproom right on the Mississippi River in Northeast on June 17. The gorgeous taproom will has start out with a guest chef, Peter Campbell of Red Wagon Pizza. The farmer’s market pizza that now has a full time restaurant in Minneapolis’ Armitage neighborhood and will be, at least at first, serving pizzas and a few other snacks inside the brewery, as well.
