Portillo’s Plans Two More Suburban Locations

Plus a new sushi spot opens in WBL and other food news to know this week.

Gird the pickle relish, it’s time to announce the Portillo’s expansion. After launching a Woodbury location, the Chicago hot dog and hot beef sandwich restaurant has announced it will open two more metro locations in the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove and another in Apple Valley on the southeast corner of 147th Street and Cedar Avenue. No opening dates have been announced yet.

Portillo’s is widely regarded as the server of some of the best Chicago-style dogs around and has over 50 locations nationwide.

Mizu is now serving at 4495 Lake Avenue South in White Bear Lake. Chef Jordan Wolterstorff formerly of Red Lantern is serving all manner of nigiri, sushi rolls and there is a poke salad. The restaurant boasts some spectacular lake views, outdoor seats and a full bar.

Brasa, James Beard Award winning chef Alex Robert’s more casual restaurant is celebrating 10 years of slow-roasted pork and crispy yucca at the original Minneapolis location in Northeast. A celebration is taking place this Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m. with an A10 workout and later there will be a special ket of Able beer tapped. The party goes until 4:00 p.m.
