The new restaurant inside the former Rachel’s location at 222 East Hennepin is now taking reservations and the first dinner served will be Sunday August 27. Bardo is the realization of a dream for chef and owner Remy Pettus. He had his eye on the location, an art deco building that was once home to Bobino before prolific restauranteur John Rimarcik transformed it into Rachel’s. That restaurant closed in November of 2016. Pettus purchased the property in the spring of this year and announced plans for Bardo.
Pettus, who was the opening chef at downtown Minneapolis’ Eastside, is planning a new-American-styled menu. Planned dishes include crispy shrimp with white beans, black garlic gremolata and mustard greens; gnocchi with shitakes, leeks and smoked tomato; game hen with crispy skin and chanterells and more making use of ingredients grown near the metro area.
Bardo will be open Wednesday through Monday for dinner.
