Northern Fires Pizza season, like the Minnesota warm season has always been so frustratingly fleeting, until now. The farmers market fixture will be moving the wood-fired oven cooked pizza operation into the former Dragon City Cafe location on East Lake Street. Year round access to those naturally-leavened, local produce topped pizzas could arrive as soon as Spring 2019.
Owner Arie Peisert’s wood-fired pizzas are known for using local everything, from grains to meats to cheese on top of naturally leavened dough.
The Longfellow location will get an overhaul and the kitchen will soon sport the neccessary wood-fired oven. The menu likely won’t stop at just pizzas, there could also be fresh pita bread stuffed with sandwich fillings and roasted fritattas.
The restaurant replaces the Chinese restaurant at 4301 East Lake Street in Minneapolis that had operated in the location for an impressive 40 years. Dragon City Cafe closed in mid-September of this year.
