Randy Stanley, the owner of Wayzata’s popular lakeside restaurant 6Smith is opening a steakhouse near Rosedale Center in the fall of next year. Baldamar will open near the new Von Mar department store on a parcel of land near the northeast section of the mall. The restaurant will be a rare fine dining option in the area with steaks, seafood, vegetables and sides along with some sandwiches for more budget-friendly menu options.
Baldamar will also have a full liquor license so that means plenty of cocktails along with a happy hour and brunch on the weekends.
Shea, the company that has helped create such restaurants as Masu, Spoon & Stable, Brasa and others, is designing the 8,000 square foot space that will include a sidewalk cafe and patio dining in the warmer months. A press release for the company promises “pushing the envelope of typical suburban restaurant design,” and includes a rendering that looks exactly like a square and beige suburban restaurant.
Baldamar breaks ground for construction in March with a projected fall 2019 opening.
