Four years ago this month, Spoon and Stable opened in Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood and with it, Gavin Kaysen handily changed the conversation about local food, dining and our city’s place in the national dining spotlight. Once again, Eater’s national roving critic, Bill Addison has selected the Minnesotan eatery as one of America’s 38 Essential Restaurants.

Addison said, “This is the Twin Cities’ restaurant of the decade. Gavin Kaysen brought New York star power back to his native Minnesota but keeps himself grounded with local ingredients and compelling yet comforting plates.”

Spoon and Stable continues to be one of the most in demand dinner reservations in the Twin Cities and the dining room often serves celebrities traveling through town. His Synergy Series has brought mega name chefs through town including Sean Brock, Grant Achatz, and an upcoming sold-out dinner with Daniela Soto Innes, all to raise money for charities.

Kaysen opened his second restaurant Bellecour in 2017 and is currently working on a tasting-menu-only experience called Demi that should open early next year.
