The massive restaurant space at the lower, corner of City Center is dark again as Prime 6 exits due to a lease dispute. The restaurant/bar/dueling piano/sushi bar/dance spot was the work of Youssef Darbaki. Darbaki, who served as executive chef had also been involved at other party-magnet restaurants South Beach, Bellenotte, and the older iteration of Seven Sushi & Steakhouse.
Prime 6 opened at 609 Hennepin Avenue in early 2018 in the location that was vacated by Rosa Mexicano. The menu hopped all over the globe from vegan to burgers to Thai to tapas to steak to a chef-manned sushi counter.
A statement from the restaurant blames lease negotiations for the exit, likely leaving a few January office parties scrambling for space. Employees were notified Tuesday of the closure in what has to be the worst time of year to look for a new job.
