Theodore Wirth Park’s newly constructed facility, The Trailhead is partnering with Cajun Twist to provide gumbo and jambalaya to park goers on the North side. Cajun Twist began as a catering venture by Teóna Washington in 2015. She was bringing her New Orleans-tinged food to friend’s offices, using recipes passed down from her Louisiana family. Word of her cooking spread until she launched Cajun Twist. As the name implies, most of the dishes are Cajun, but she isn’t beholden to sticking strictly to the cuisine - that means there are tacos, Cubanos and more, all served with a little bayou kick.
In the company’s growth, Washington has also been committed to giving back by sharing meals with the homeless. Every Wednesday is Humpdayz, which donates 10% of the day’s sales to feeding the homeless.
The new restaurant is part of the now omnipresent trent of parks adding eateries to their grounds. Cajun Twist will join Sea Salt, Bread & Pickle, Spring Cafe and Lola’s Cafe.
