The restauranteur behind Republic, Red River Kitchen, Delicata and Bar Brigade is again expanding his small eatery empire with the addition of the Como Park Pavillion, the historic building on Como Lake. Matty O’Reilly can’t resist to the call to step into a small eatery and polish it into a neighborhood-serving spot. His newest project will be called Spring Cafe and takeover the address vacated by Como Dockside last year.
O’Reilly will again work with JD Fratzke, the chef who has become integral in the restaurant building partnership. Fratzke, perhaps best known as the chef/owner of the now shuttered Strip Club Meat & Fish, uses his culinary prowess to build menus that best serve the space, and the diners.
Spring Cafe will be open lunch through dinner every day from spring through fall and limited winter hours to a weekend brunch.
The room is being remodeled to remove the bar that was the first thing that greeted people when they walked in, in favor of a more family-friendly layout. Although, there will still be beer, wine and some batched on hand.
Spring Cafe could open as soon as April 2018.
