Los Ocampo Express, a sped up version of the taqueria restaurant with several locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul will open inside City Center on the skyway level, reports Star Tribune critic Rick Nelson.
The restaurants have been a standard for Mexican fare, but especially the street-style tacos since 2003 when the first location opened in Lake Plaza. Soon restaurants popped up in St. Paul’s Seeger Square, Midtown Global Market and an expanded menu and full sit-down restaurant off White Bear Avenue. There’s another location on University Avenue near Dale.
The restaurant’s best bites have always been those tacos, stuffed with chorizo, al pastor, chicharrón prensado, carnitas, chicken tinga and more.
The new location will be located on the second level of downtown Minneapolis’ City Center mall at 40 South 7th Street.
