Brainerd is getting a distillery. 5Rocks Distilling expects to open some time later this summer as part of a riverside development in the city located just about in the middle of the state of Minnesota. Lisa Desrocher won a contest sponsored by the Brainerd Chamber of Commerce to open a 12,000 sq ft distillery with a 1,000 sq ft cocktail tasting room, according to the Star Tribune. Derocher, a food scientist, plans to use local grain, sugar beets, potatoes and wild rice to make gin, rum and vodka. The new distillery is part of the statewide surge in local spirit brewing.

—The North Loop’s Red Rabbit has re-opened after a fire in the restaurant’s kitchen hood last week. The pizza, pasta restaurant and bar has been given a thorough scrub down and open regular hours, opening for lunch today at 11 am.

Nam Nam has replaced 7sushi inside the clubstaurant Seven Steakhouse Sushi and Rooftop in downtown Minneapolis. Located on the second level of the steakhouse/bar/sky lounge, Nam Nam serves a Southeast Asian-inspired menu overseen by Seven’s Culinary Director, chef Sameh Wadi.

Edit: This article previously stated Nam Nam served sushi, the menu lists sushi as well as other Asian dishes like banana leaf wrapped fish, crab fried rice and salsa with sesame chips.
