Duluth’s first all-local, mostly organic ice cream shop is now open at 1908 West Superior Street in Lincoln Park, a neighborhood fast-becoming ground zero in a new food boom happening in the Twin Ports. Love Creamery sources local ingredients to be churned into super small batch ice creams. Up until now, people could only buy the small containers at a few area retailers like Duluth Coffee Company or get it al la mode at New Scenic Cafe.
Nicole Wilde started Love Creamery out of a shared commercial kitchen space in Superior. She would sell her scoops with the inspired flavors at area farmers markets. The creamery is part of the development that includes neighboring Corktown Deli and Brews, from the owner of the Duluth Grill.
Flavor varieties go above and beyond the old chocolate and vanilla, offering scoops like salted caramel, cardamom pepper and goat cheese with roasted cherry. The new shop will also serve a variety of pastries from nearby Duluth’s Best Bread and Duluth Coffee drinks. It’s also located right across the street from OMC Smokehouse for the perfect post-barbecue dessert. The store is open 6:30 am to 10 pm every day this summer.
