Anyone heading up to Duluth for the 4th of July should plan to stay through the weekend for a spectacular new breakfast spot down on Lake Superior. Inside a cute little structure at the end of Canal Park will be a new morning cafe from the people who run Duluth’s Best Bread in Lincoln Park. Saturday July 7 kicks off the new hours and menu.
The new breakfast and lunch offerings join Endion Station, already a spot for local music and casual dining with spectacular lake views.
Duluth’s Best Bread is the tiny bakery that had been up until now available on a limited basis at a few area businesses and, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings at the bakery at 2632 West 3rd Street. The croissants, cinnamon rolls, and other goodies usually sell out before the bakery closes at 1pm. Run by brother’s Robert and Michael Lillegard, the bakery has built a cult following. The Star Tribune’s restaurant critic swooned over the caramel rolls, “barely sweet dough thickly matted with pecans that are suspended in a gooey, insanely buttery caramel topping.

In addition to the sweets there will be quiche, savory croissant, and coffee from the similarly city-named, but unaffiliated Duluth Coffee Company. The breakfast menu runs 7 am to 11:00 am, when Endion Stations’s usual lunch and dinner hours take over.
