Open since 1975 Rudolph’s Bar-B-Que has closed as of yesterday. The restaurant in the corner of Franklin and Lyndale Avenues was named for the silent movies heartthrob Rudolph Valentino. The restaurant and bar had tributes to the movie star mixed in amongst the decor.
In recent years, a massive construction project coupled with recent condo developments have made a tough parking situation downright arduous for prospective patrons. That coupled with changes tastes and trends ultimately led to the decision to close.
The restaurant was owned by the Theros Restaurant Group, run by Jimmy Theros, who also owned the St. Clair Broiler. That restaurant closed last year after an impressive 61 year run.
- A sign and story in City Pages hints that the closing might be temporary, but several sources have confirmed to Eater that the shutter is permanent.
