Muffuletta Location to Become a Taco and Tequila Restaurant

Nico’s Tequila and Taco Bar will take over the long dormant Muffuletta space at 2260 Como Avenue in Saint Paul, the restaurant announced via a Facebook post. Nico’s is the house turned taco shop with a tequila bar at 2516 Hennepin Avenue in Uptown.

Alex and Jenna Victoria opened Nico’s in 2013 inside the house/restaurant spot that had briefly been Birdhouse. The couple had also owned Amore Victoria, an Italian restaurant on West Lake Street and Iriving that they later sold. (It’s now Amore Uptown.) Nico’s was named for their son. It has since become a popular spot for happy hour and patio margaritas.

Muffuletta was the first restaurant for Parasole, the restaurant group that still operates Chino Latino, Salut, Manny’s Steakhouse and others. That restaurant closed in November of last year.

No word yet on if the new Nico’s Tacos and Tequila will open in time for patio season.
