Dave’s Popcorn, at 1848 East 38th Street in South Minneapolis is the prime location for the second outpost of Milkjam, the ice cream shop from chef Sameh Wadi. A new Milkjam, with new flavors and hotdogs will open there this Sunday August 12.

Wadi is the celebrated chef who first opened (and eventually closed) the landmark Saffron, and operates World Street Kitchen and Grand Catch along with his brother/business partner Saed. Milkjam is known for its inventive flavors that are like something from a sugar-cereal amped up child of the 80’s after a Saturday morning Hanna Barbera onslaught. The often vegan flavors include the blacker than black chocolate that sends Instagrammers into a frenzy, Glam Doll doughnuts that act as buns for scoops and sundaes inspired by musical artists.

This Milkjam’s hot dog menu will include all-beef or vegetarian dog with an array of global garnishes dreamed up by Sameh and World Street Kitchen’s chefs Matt Eisele and Jeremy Fritz. That means kimchi and the secret sauce made famous from WSK’s Yum Yum Bowl, a banh mi inspired dog will have pickled veggies, jalapeños, mayonnaise and cilantro.

The ice cream menu will be overseen by chef Sean Little with new flavors exclusive to the shop in addition to some familiar to fans.

New Milkjam will be open Wednesday-Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
