510 Groveland, perhaps the most storied restaurant location in Minneapolis is about to get a new chapter with a chef who spent over nine years in the kitchen there. Mpls./St. Paul Magazine reports that Mike DeCamp, who was the longtime chef de cuisine at La Belle Vie, will open as chef of Jester Concepts new restaurant in this very old location. A modern version of a steakhouse should open here before the end of 2018.

510 Groveland is the historic building near Loring Park filled with luxury condos. At the base of the building, beyond the marble and the crystal chandeliers is a lounge and on the other side of the first floor, room for fine dining seating. That’s the way it was set up when Tim McKee ran his long celebrated La Belle Vie as the restaurant within the building. Most recently, the the lounge was the 510 Lounge, a restaurant that earned the dubious honor of being the first to close in 2018.

Now, the restaurant space will get a chef that understands the room and the tenants of the building. DeCamp worked under Tim McKee in that kitchen for almost 10 years. DeCamp has since gone on to run the kitchens at Monello, Borough and Parlour under the umbrella of Jester Concepts. It’s with that company that he returns to what will be something similar to Burch Steak or Bavette in Chicago.

This new chapter could begin as soon as November 2018.
