The lights are out at the Hasty Tasty and all messages have gone unanswered. City Pages reports that the smoked meat and cocktail spot at the corner of Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis has permanently shuttered.
The Hasty Tasty opened in November of 2017 with Chris Gerster manning the kitchen for owner Michael Veazey with a staunch opposition to cuisine classification. While it had a giant smoker, it was not barbecue. There were cocktails from Bittercube, but it wasn’t a craft cocktail place. This might have plagued the often-empty location, with difficult parking in finding an active group of regulars. The menu covered the comfort food landscape from poutine to mac and cheese to spicy pasta.
