After two years in the Lyn/Lake neighborhood Mercado will close. The restaurant began as Marche, a snacky spot on the ground floor of a new condo building on Lyndale Avenue. The restaurant evolved into Mercado with a focus on great cocktails and more Mexican bites. In a statement, the restaurant’s owners said that the decision was made not to renew the lease at the end of 2019.
“At the end of the year, LynLake’s Mercado will close its doors. Jester Concepts opened Mercado in 2017. As the year is wrapping up, the team has decided not to renew its lease. Despite this closing, Jester has no plans of slowing down. New concepts, as well as an acquisition, are in the works for the year ahead.”
Other restaurants under the Jester Concepts banner include P.S. Steak, Borough, both Parlours, Monello, and Constantine.
Before shutting down Mercado will host a tiki pop up on December 14, called Dizzy Dog. There will be a collection of the sweet, tropical cocktails and a dog costume contest starting at 11 a.m.
