Award winning chef Isaac Becker of 112 Eatery, Bar La Grassa, Burch Steak and Pizza is opening a new pizza restaurant in the North Loop. The former Be’Wiched Deli will become Snack Bar, an afternoon and late night counter spot serving slices. Becker’s partner, wife and front of house expert Nancy St. Pierre will be choosing wines that interest her to share inside the new spot.
The pizza will be different from the fire-charred pies served in the basement of Burch. These will come from a standard deck oven, but Becker was vague on details when he spoke to Mpls./St. Paul Magazine. It’ll be pizza, made with dough and topped with sauce, the recipes for all, he’s still working out.
Becker and St. Pierre first opened 112 Eatery in 2005 as a chef-run restaurant in the Warehouse District geared towards serving other chefs and late night workers. The restaurant has since become a Minneapolis institution serving iconic dishes like a brie topped burger on an English muffin and pasta with foie gras meatballs. Bar La Grassa next opened in 2009 serving small and large plates of pasta and has been one of the most consistently busy restaurants in Minneapolis ever since. Burch Steak with the pizza restaurant in the basement opened in 2012 to immediate acclaim.
