Kua: Modern Mexican opens today in Minneapolis. This is the latest long-term pop-up from Travail. This time, the chef collective has teamed with chef Gustavo Romero Mexican food specific to the vast neighborhoods of Mexico City.
The restaurant name is Aztec for devour, which is what guests are invited to do to dishes like ceviche, smoked swordfish, chile rellenos, Konro-grilled meats, and more. There is promise of lamb tacos, a tamale cart, and a house-made horchata ice cream.
Like all Travail tasting menus, tickets are available for the full dining experience. For those who aren’t prone to planning ahead, seats are always available first come, first serve at the bar. The bar menu is more casual, and a wide selection of drinks complementing the food are also available at the bar.
This is the final pop-up at Travail’s temporary Minneapolis home on Hennepin Avenue. The space has been a temporary home as a new, two-story Travail is built in downtown Robbinsdale.
Kua opens at 5 p.m. tonight.
