Vieux Carré will close at the end of June. The jazz club and sister venue Minneapolis’ The Dakota shared the news with fans over the weekend that the end of the era of music and drinks in the basement of downtown St. Paul’s Hamm Building is coming to a close. The Minnesota Jazz Festival will mark its final events, and the business will shut down after June 22.
Vieux Carre was the second club to operate inside the 408 St. Petter Street location, taking over the old Artist’s Quarter.
The club was appreciated as a venue for locale musicians and traveling acts, as well as a cocktail destination with a Creole food menu. The club first opened in the summer of 2015.
