Dué Focaceria has completely transformed a neighborhood coffee shop into a sleek Italian market and restaurant at the intersection of Fairview and Randolph in Saint Paul’s cozy Highland Park neighborhood. The new business comes from experienced restaurant owners Eric and Vanessa Carrara who also have Nokomis’ ie- Italian Eatery. Eric joked, about the challenging restaurant names as the new spot was under construction, noting that it’s “doo-eh” and inspired by trips the couple made to Italy. Focaceria’s were gathering points for neighborhoods serving wine, espresso, small plates, and a market area for bringing goods home.
Despite a small space, Dué manages to smoke meat, bake bread, mix cocktails, and serve the neighborhood with imported items to bring home, or dishes to dine inside or on the patio.
The Carraras live in the neighborhood and noticed that while the location might not need another coffee shop (as it sits directly across from a coffee shop), there was room for more eateries.
