The Bacon Social House is edging closer to an August opening in downtown Minneapolis. The company began in Denver’s fittingly named Sunnyside neighborhood and has since expanded to Littleton. This will be its first Minnesota location. The restaurant will occupy a massive space inside the new Canopy by Hilton hotel. Shocking no one, the menu makes all kinds of use of pork belly in all its glorious forms.

—Vann has announced it will begin serving seafood-led fine dining to Wayzata on August 10. Owned by chef Erik Skaar, the menu is Norway by way of Japan and is stacked with light, fresh fare that ought to be tasty after a day on nearby Lake Minnetonka. Appetizers include a krumkake with dill and mayonnaise or an entree of scallops, cauliflower, and duck sabayon. Skaar has spent time in the kitchens of Tilia and The Bachelor Farmer, before venturing out here on his own.
