Bap and Chicken, Grand Avenue’s new fast casual Korean fried chicken and bibimbap restaurant opens for dinner tonight. The restaurant is the work of industry alum John Gleason. On the menu, in addition to the double-fried chicken, are several options of rice bowls. The fifty seat restaurant takes the place of Grand Shanghai on St. Paul’s lively Grand Avenue, near the Hamline intersection. Doors open at 5 pm. Once things get rolling, the restaurant will be open from lunch until 10 pm daily.

Bacon Social House will open with all thing cured pork belly on the menu, the restaurant will be located at the base of a new hotel on 3rd Street. The restaurant began in Denver with a second location in Littleton, Colorado.

—Saint Paul’s Black Sheep Pizza is getting a remodel/refresh that includes a whole full bar. Stop by the celebration on August 1, where there will be all-day happy hour specials.

New Rules Cafe is now open in North Minneapolis on Lowry. The cafe is serving midday as a part of a co-working space on Lowry Avenue. Look for avocado toast and other light, fresh fare.

—In another part of North, Washington Avenue, near Broadway and a skip down from BJ’s topless dancers, will be a new all natural wine bar, Bar Brava. Dinner will be served six nights a week with tapas and other dishes built for snacking while sipping bottles that Minneapolis won’t find anywhere else in town. Look for an autumnal opening.

—Unfortunately, it’s not all opening news as Lion’s Tavern in Stillwater and Lowertown’s World of Beer both closed last week.
