West 7th’s Popular Doughnut Shop Scales Back Hours

Mojo Monkey’s owner and head chef Lisa Carlson will only open the store on weekends

After Friday February 14, West 7th’s popular doughnut shop, Mojo Monkey will cease weekday doughnut production. The store’s owner and head chef Lisa Clark made the announcement via the shop’s Facebook page, citing some ongoing health issues. The storefront will continue to serve the fluffy interior, crispy-fried doughnuts with imaginative toppings on the weekends, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, or until sold out, beginning the weekend of February 22. For those looking for a weekday fix, Mojo Monkey’s doughnuts will continue to be available at area Spyhouse Coffee locations seven days a week.

Clark and her crew first opened the storefront in 2011, only to be greeted by consistent lines out the door. Immediately, the Star Tribune said Mojo Monkey took the humble dish to remarkable new heights. Minnesota Monthly declared the cake, “a remarkably rich and buttery version, almost pound-cake like.”
