Although Minnesota’s Stay at Home order is coming to an end, restaurants and bars must wait until June 1 to resume table service. While people have to wait a little longer to enjoy the delights of dining in once again, one type of restaurant still abides perfectly by the rules, while still providing an escape from eating at home for the millionth time in a row. Rely on drive ins for now, and indulge in some greasy goodness from the comfort of the car, while breaking out from the confines of the kitchen table.

Minnetonka Drive In

Find the most classic of drive in menus at the Minnetonka Drive In. Customers can order items like homemade root beer, chicken by the tub, or the cheeky Minnetonka Twin burger, with a double patty, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and dressing. Order online or call in for pickup.

Peppermint Twist Drive In

Make the (short) drive to Delano to slurp on a thick, old fashioned shake – but don’t overlook the rest of the wide-ranged menu. Appetizers like spicy battered pickle spears, mini tacos, and more accompany several chicken sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs. Peppermint Twist’s Teddy Bear Park is closed for now, but basking in the building’s pink exterior with car service or takeout still gives guests a break from at-home dining.

Dari-ette Drive In

While customers can still get their hands on a classic burger and fries, Dari-ette Drive In dabbles in Italian dishes as well. Pick up a meatball sandwich, homemade pasta fagioli, or even slap on a side of spaghetti with a sandwich. Call ahead to place orders in St. Paul, Tuesday through Saturday.
