Summer may be over but you certainly do not need to drink like it is. A favored cocktail by many and a syrup-soaked memory to many more the daiquiri has several identities. The classic daiquiri, notoriously enjoyed by the great Ernest Hemingway, however, originated on the Island of Cuba around the 1890s and consists of four ingredients rum, lime, sugar and ice. Rum being the largest element of flavor in the daiquiri, much like the whiskey in your old-fashioned. We’re talking varied flavors from the rums of Jamaica vs. Puerto Rico not coconut vs. mango. The classic is a far cry of the 1990's variations that do not rely on fresh ingredients or distinctive rums but more so your favorite color. So where can you reminisce the days of summer past while sipping a classic daiquiri cocktail?
