Zen Box Izakaya

While the late-night menu at Zen Box Izakaya is only open for an hour on weekdays, Friday and Saturday nights run until midnight, leaving ample time to get a $6 cocktail and a bowl of their famous tonkatsu ramen before close: a ball of elastic, hand-pulled noodles buried under a mound of seared mushrooms, a soft-boiled egg dusted with salt and nori, tender slices of pork chashu, and a rich broth.

Nightingale

Located on a bustling section of Lyndale Avenue in Uptown, Nightingale’s dog-friendly patio is the perfect place to enjoy the cool, clear Minnesota nights this autumn. From 11pm-1am every day, get $3.50 rail drinks and tap selections, $5 wines and select cocktails. Also on their late night menu: a number of small plate offerings, ranging from their classic cheese plate to a rotating selection of seasonal bruschetta.

Though the Twin Cities are densely populated with great pubs and bars, Lowertown’s Dark Horse Bar and Eatery is one of the intrepid few that stay open until the city-mandated bar close, at 2am. Get a local brew for $4, and try out their dry-rub ghost pepper jerk wings: searingly, mouthwateringly, addictively spicy.
