These bright, sunny days and skyrocketing temps are begging for fresh, sugar cones, clutched in hand as we try to stem the tide of slow oozing sweet cream over knuckles. Now, it the time for ice cream - even if we’re continuing to grapple with this pandemic. With brand, new shops springing up in Minneapolis (Bebe Zito) and St. Paul (2 Scoops), it’s time to dig into the cold stuff.

Sebastian Joe's Ice Cream Cafe
Sebastian Joe’s was the shop that introduced Minneapolis to adult flavors like zinfandel in ice cream along with more kid-friendly concoctions with Oreos and chocolate chips and it feels so good to have them serving up those old favorites now. Order walk up for a cone tipped safely into a cup.

Bebe Zito Ice Cream
This highly anticipated shop has just opened in July near Cafetto coffee shop in the Wedge neighborhood. The flavors are delightfully outrageous flavors like strawberry churro, bacon & bourbon, rhubarb razz & coconut water sorbet, and vanilla kicked up with a little MSG.

Milkjam Creamery
This is what happens when a chef creates an ice cream shop with flavors including a coriander and orange ice cream that tastes like Fruity Pebbles, but better. The toppings available take the scoops into another stratosphere of flavor, plus, several options just happen to be vegan. Best of all, it’s possible to get Milkjam pints delivered locally through next door’s World Street Kitchen- or around the metro area through MN Pure & Clear Ice.

Using organic and local ingredients, the ice cream at Pumphouse Creamery possesses a purity of seasonal flavors. No cones are being sold right now, but the pints are available to order online and pick up curbside.

Izzy's Ice Cream
While it is a bummer that the Saint Paul location is closed, there continues to be plenty of Izzy’s ice cream for everybody. Some pints are available in grocery store freezers, but a wider selection can be ordered by calling the Minneapolis facility for local delivery. Curbside orders are in the works for summer, but not quite available yet.

Seward Soft Serve
It’s not many places where a cup of soft serve comes with an optional jar of kimichi to take home, but that’s what’s happening inside this brand new shop in Seward. Order online for vegan and dairy rich ice cream. Order online for pick up Friday and Saturday 2pm to 5pm. Try the vanilla soft serve topped with Serious Jam’s blood orange and whiskey marmalade. Shop through all the other locally made goods while you’re there.
Cold Front
This fantastic little neighborhood shop on Hamline near the intersection of Randolph in St. Paul has moved online pints of cookie dough, Door County cherry, old school vanilla, and something appropriately called “Exhausted Parent Pint,” online. Throw in some locally roasted Bootstrap coffee, too.

Two Scoops
This welcoming shop is new, but steeped in a welcome nostalgia. Banana splits are topped with swirls of whipped cream and a cherry. Flavors like salted caramel lure the adults, and a kids menu with Superman and Cotton Candy draw the kids who love a crazy color and sweet, cold treat.
Grand Ole Creamery & Grand Pizza
A St Paul institution, Grand Ole Creamery is making their ice cream in house and doling out giant servings in fresh waffles cones curbside, at safe distances. Order online, or get pints delivered through Bite Squad.

Conny's Creamy Cone
This iconic stop is open for the season. Step back into the era when ordering from the walk up window. There is a large array of fun soft serve flavors like amaretto, black cherry, and pumpkin, plus you can pick up some onion rings and chili dogs to complete the guilty pleasure trip.
