Readers Vote: 12 Restaurants with the Best Service in MPLS

View as Map

Last week, we asked which Minneapolis restaurants have the best and worst service. The question led to our most popular (and controversial) Open Thread yet, with comments pouring in. The clear winner—and no big surprise here—was La Belle Vie, with Piccolo, Restaurant Alma, and Meritage also getting multiple best service shout outs. Here now, mapped, are the 12 restaurants with the best service in Minneapolis, as chosen by readers.

But first: We also asked about the worst service, which drew some surprising responses. Most surprising was the mixed reviews for acclaimed restaurants Bar La Grassa, 112 Eatery, and Victory 44, each of which got nods for both great service and bad service, sometimes from the same commenter. Other places that got called out for unequivocally bad service in the comments and via the tipline: Rye Deli, Loring Kitchen, and St. Paul's Shamrocks.

Agree? Disagree? Have an opinion on one of the contentious restaurants above? Let us know in the comments.

We asked for nominations for surprisingly good service (no, La Belle Vie doesn't count as surprisingly good), and one commenter suggested Jasmine Deli, the small Vietnamese restaurant and sandwich shop on Eat Street: "The folks who run Jasmine Deli are terrific and deserve mention in the 'best service' category."

Cafe & Bar Lurcat
