The Hottest Taproom Patios in Minneapolis

Craft beer and sunshine: sounds like summer to us.

View as Map

It seems like there is a new taproom opening about every seven minutes in Minnesota, many with outdoor spaces. What better way is there to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon than on a sun-streaked patio with a basket of fish tacos and a pint of bright and hoppy pale ale?

Here are just a few of the metro area’s taprooms with patios, where you can get your nosh and buzz on, all while basking in the warmth of a Minnesota spring sun.

Bauhaus Brew Labs

Bauhaus Brew Labs offers a unique "sessionable beers” which basically means they are an easy drinking kind of beer, perfect for spring time patio sips. This spirit shines through in their Über fun patio with a spunky mix of architecture, art and pops of color. Graffiti, sways of white lights and bright orange picnic tables all add to the festive vibe. Try a pint of their Wonderstuff NeÜ Bohemian, a well-balanced, citrusy Pilsner perfect for crisp spring evenings under the twinkling lights. [Photo courtesy Bauhaus Brew Labs Facebook Page]

Fulton Brewing Company

Fulton's taproom, a well-loved institution within ball-catching distance of the Twins stadium, brews highly accessible, drinkable beer that goes well with just about any dish a food truck might be dispensing from the parking lot. A taproom exclusive, their Minneapolis Mild, an English Mild ale, is a perfect summer brew at only 4% ABV. Thanks to Tangle Town Gardens, the patio will soon be surrounded by a live wall of trees and plants, an oasis within the heart of progress. They say, “We are the city. Come, bring your dog, hang with us.” [Photo courtesy Fulton's Facebook Page]

Urban Growler Brewing Company

Urban Growler is a bit of an anomaly in our taproom landscape. They are one of only a couple that have their own full kitchen (taproom Mecca Surly being the other), serving up elevated bar food like carnitas, which utilize the Smoked Chipotle Porter. Some fun brews will be on tap this season, including a coconut porter, and the reappearance of previous hits like their Pumpkin Saison. The popular Rhubarb Wit will be back in early summer. Sociable Cider Werks

The Sociable serves a rotating crop of refined ciders and beers. The patio is nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Central Avenue, but has a palatable energy, plus a cozy fire pit for chilly spring nights. Thanks to an exclusive partnership with Ian Gray’s Curious Goat food truck, you can enjoy a hyper-seasonal menu featuring ambitious dishes like pickled mango salad and goat cheese curds drizzle with honey. 612 Brew

612 Brew has one of the most striking patios in town, tucked under the busy intersection of Broadway and Central. It's a hidden oasis encircled with monolithic rocks creating an amphitheater of sorts. Stout tables are topped with giant slices of petrified tree trunks where folks can saddle up with a Mary Ann, one of 612’s seasonal beers-a light lager with spicy ginger notes. That Mary Ann, she’s a kick. [Photo courtesy 612Brew]
